ABOUT EVERNIGHT ARTS
Hello! My name is Jay and I'm the artist behind Evernight Arts. Polymer clay has been my favourite medium for about 5 years now - I love its unique ability to change shape and form, offering infinite possibilities to bring my imagination to life. Here, at my shop, I solely design, sculpt, bake, paint and glaze my creations. I make figurines that you can display on your desk or shelf, accessories like earrings, pins and necklaces, fridge magnets, and so on. All this with a pinch of mysterious, spooky and kinky, of course ;)
To understand my shop better, you need to know that I’ve always been a black sheep. Neighbourhood kids didn't want to play with me, thought I was too weird. So I took my chance and spun stories and wove worlds, told the tales of dragons living in my backyard, of hidden portals in my closet leading to underground mystery worlds. Soon, same kids who once avoided me began gather around, eager to hear what strange adventure I would dream up next. It made me realize that being different wasn’t actually a weakness, more like.. a power. I've made this realization my daily mantra since then, and embracing my individuality has led me to incredible experiences in life.
Evernight Arts is a sanctuary for those who have always felt like wanderers in a world that never quite understood them. Its also a search for my community of likeminded people. For souls drawn to the beauty in darkness, for lovers of melancholy, and for gothic hearts.
Here you can be whoever you want to be ♡
Some facts about my life that led me to creating Evernight Arts!

I actually come from a family of artists! Both my mom and dad have been doing mosaic art for almost 2 decades now, as a hobby. My mom also does patchwork, decoupage, bead art and oil painting. The horse is the mosaic me and my dad did when I was 7 years old - it even made appearance on American TV which was a big deal back then.
Due to economical struggles and political disaster in the country where my parents live, its hard to sell any kind of handmade art for what its worth. I'm hoping one day I will be able to help my family get the recognition their work truly deserves!

By the age of 20 I became a multidisciplionary artist spanning dancing, modelling, makeup & hair, photography, mosaic and ceramics. In fall of 2019 after working on a TV and film set, I decided to enhance my makeup skills, specifically SFX (special effects) to pursue career in film industry, and moved to Canada to study. This is when I discovered polymer clay and fell in love with it instantly. I learned ceramics at the young age but never heard about polymer type of clay, and the thing that fascinated me the most about this material is that it can be baked at home! No need for huge ceramic kilns.
The photo shows the work for one of my exams where I used NSP modelling clay in order to make build a dam and make a mold. The gelatin mask that you see on the model is basically a replica of my clay sculpture, but painted on top. I really enjoy working on small details and textures, you will see it quite often on my larger scale products. (Wood and moss on the photo are real, by the way! I tend to implement nature in lots of my projects)

Performing has always been a huge part of my life, I remember myself on the stage since the age of 4. When the global pandemic hit in 2020, I couldn't imagine finding happiness without the live audience - the energy exchange with people in the room became my fuel.
Unlike for many other influencers and small businesses, who how people call it had "The Great Awakening" during that time, it took me a couple years after the pandemic to truly rediscover myself. I was an immigrant with no friends or family, with my dance team left behind. It felt very lonely. In the moments of suffocating isolation I found myself sitting in the corner of my room and sculpting little monsters and fantasy creatures. Occasionally, I would handcraft gifts for my friends birthdays - it would always bring the most genuine reaction.
I didn't give my hobby much importance back then but one day my friend during that time asked me: "Why don't we open the shop together?" and offered to be my business partner. She bailed a couple months later but the idea has never left my mind. I started slowly building my work studio, did research on local laws, talked to accountants, lawyers, trademark agents, local small business authorities, learned dozens more sculpting techniques, watched thousands of videos of other small business owners and artists, and officially registered my business in Canada. I found my comfort in not depending on other people and it felt refreshing. I discovered that I'm a lot more independent that I thought I was, and that I have all the tools to make myself happy and to share that feeling with the world.

My art - and even my personal style - has been deeply influenced by the music I grew up with, all thanks to my dad. Every morning on the way to school, he'd play Scorpions, Depeche Mode, Queen, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Rammstein, Metallica on his car radio. Those songs became the soundtracks of my childhood, and the dark, moody and nostalgic tones of my favourite music now echo in lots of things I create and do.
The picture was taken at the drag show I performed at back in 2023, where I surprised my best friend in the audience by choosing his favourite rock band's "Ghost" song "Square Hammer".
